50 Before 50

Alright, lets accept it, we like lists. The tallest, highest, longest, first, last, best, richest, poorest, and on and on and on it goes. It fascinates us. I like lists too, it puts things in order, provides an aim to work towards, and directs efforts in the right direction. Even currently I’m working on one – visiting all the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India under a calendar year, there are 50!! Oh yes!!

I’m turning 30 this year. It’s definitely not a fixation for moi, and not a big deal but I do think it’s the half-way mark. There’re some milestones that’ve passed and some are yet to be travelled to. And though I think professionally and education-wise much has been achieved, yet there’s only as much that has been achieved otherwise. Thus, it’s time things are placed in order for the times to come. So, I’ve come up with an idea to chart my list of 50 things I wish to accomplish before turning 50. They may seem achievable at first but then that’s what a practical man would do anyways. And who said the list can’t be revised and 50 to-dos can’t become 60?

So, here it is. And just to put things in perspective, the current level/status is placed in brackets in front. If in Black, work’s in progress, if Red, the target was achieved and the date of entry will follow:

So, after keeping this piece as a draft for nearly two weeks, I’ve pretty much halted at a list of 40 to-dos, and nothing else is coming naturally to be put on the sheet. I reckon it’ll be unfair, unjustified, and unbecoming if I push the list to just to knock it off, thus leaving it at 40.
